Huge crowd of passer-bys
In my New York City dream tonight
Amidst them you stood
Behind flickering store lights
And as if on cue,
Our eyes met,
Your shadow straightened,
Like my presence had some effect on you.
Like my light could adjust your dark.
But it faded too quickly when you flashed a smile,
And walked your way to me, arms stretched wide.
Then again, I realize this is all just a dream:
You and me in New York City? Could be.
But I ain’t a fool to believe such impossibility.
