Because he never knew
What life had threw
He was locked
In his initial luck

Because he had never known
How burns the coal
Several tender kisses
To blow glow into ashes

He had never known
How to add a coal
Or from where it blows
To make a glow

To round and cap
My ramblings so rapt,
Beneath the earth’s lap
Rests the head of the lad

Because he knew
What life had to threw,
He would have remained a tree
In the thick mangrove, like three.
